Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib is a retired civil servant and social entrepreneur who founded Akhuwat in 2001, which has grown into Pakistan's largest and the world's largest interest-free microfinance organisation. Akhuwat has disbursed billions of rupees in loans to millions of families, lifting them out of poverty without charging interest. His Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2010 recognised his extraordinary humanitarian contributions and innovative approach to social welfare.
